Zidane: Ronaldo, Bale not for sale

Zinedine Zidane doesn’t believe Real Madrid will sell Cristiano Ronaldo, and backed Gareth Bale to stay at Santiago Bernabeu too.

Zidane, currently Coach of RM Castilla and formerly an assistant to Carlo Ancelotti, has been interviewed by Shortlist magazine, with his remarks on Los Blancos picked up by Marca.

“Cristiano has been the best player in the world in recent years and he knows he’s the best,” the 2002 Champions League winner began.

“That doesn’t mean he didn’t work hard, or that he doesn’t want to get better or better, but it gives you confidence to know how good you are. He isn’t for sale.

“Of course other clubs will want [Bale], he’s one of the best in the world. But Bale, his agent and the club have made it clear: his future is at Madrid. We sign the best players in the world, we don’t sell them.”

Zidane concluded by assessing the team’s targets for the season, their first under the tutelage of Rafa Benitez, who replaced Ancelotti in the summer.

“The goal, as every year, is to win all the trophies, especially, as always, the Champions League,” he confirmed.
