Jackson Martinez felt a weight lifted from him when he scored for Atletico Madrid against Astana, his second goal for Los Colchoneros and first at Vicente Calderon.
Martinez, a big-money summer signing from Porto, had struggled in recent weeks but netted the second of Atletico’s four goals and admitted to feeling freer now he’d broken his home duck.
“It’s a joy for the whole team, and I’ve a lot of work to do to help the team,” he said, AS reports.
“[Scoring] was liberating, for what had happened in previous games. I was calm but the goal wouldn’t come. I hope to continue like this.”
