Gerard Pique feels Ivan Rakitic’s opening goal against BATE Borisov is evidence Barcelona should take more long-range shots.
Rakitic scored both goals in Belarus, his first from the edge of the penalty area after he was teed up by Neymar, who later created the Croatian’s second from a much closer distance.
“We should shoot more from outside the box but sometimes we just want to get inside the area,” Pique said, Sport reports.
“But that’s what we are like and we have won a lot of trophies that way.”
Pique added regarding the match itself that he felt it was a solid performance from which Barca can take a lot, but also revealed he has a long-standing injury concern.
“For more than a year-and-a-half I’ve had discomfort in my hip, but I’m fine physically,” he insisted.
“We did very well defensively and in attack we created many chances. We kept a clean sheet and that gives us confidence for the next matches and the future.”
