Ronaldo: Don’t cause trouble with Pique

Cristiano Ronaldo avoided criticising Barcelona defender Gerard Pique after Real Madrid’s Champions League win over Malmo.

Ronaldo scored twice in Sweden to either match Raul’s club record or go past it, depending on which set of statistics you count, and after the match appeared before the Press for what AS notes is the first time in seven months.

“It’s my decision [to speak to reporters now after so long]. I speak when I want and the club doesn’t pressure me,” he said when asked why he was breaking his silence.

“It’s not the time to talk about [if someone had disrespected Madrid]. When you don’t speak it’s because something isn’t right. Everyone can think what they want.”

Ronaldo then bristled when a reporter brought up comments made by Pique at the end of last season.

“That’s not a smart topic. Do you know why I don’t talk? Are you smart? To make this work you have to be intelligent.

“I don’t speak more often because the questions aren’t good. You’re talking about things from five months ago.

“You don’t ask me about the good things in the team. Why do you want to cause trouble with Pique? Is it important?

“Talk about others. We don’t always have to talk about the same things. The President and the directors never told me why they don’t talk. I always talked, but things change.”
