Raul Gonzalez has praised Cristiano Ronaldo for his “incredible” exploits as the Portuguese closes in on the forward’s haul of 323 goals for Real Madrid.
Ronaldo is just two away from becoming Madrid’s all-time leading scorer – a feat which could be achieved against Granada on Saturday – despite playing 436 fewer matches than Los Blancos’ previous No 7.
“Right now, for those who like comparisons, there’s no words to describe what Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi are doing,” the 38-year-old told Marca.
“They’re on another level in history. Cristiano is incredible, given what he has achieved in just six years, averaging more than 50 goals a season. It was hard enough scoring 20!
“Records exist, but they were never important for me. My objective was always to help my teammates and club to win important things.
“I’m very satisfied with what I’ve done [in my career], and it’s clear that Cristiano Ronaldo will go on to score many more.
“May he continue scoring lots of goals for a long time and helping the team win trophies.”
