Cristiano Ronaldo took a swipe at his critics after scoring a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s win over Shakhtar Donetsk to make it eight goals in two games.
Ronaldo, having drawn a blank in two club games and one appearance for Portugal at the start of the season, netted five against Espanyol four days before his Champions League treble.
“I’m content. It’s an honour to be in this position. I have to thank the team, who help me a lot,” the forward said, AS reports.
“I don’t know…I was bad before, and now I’m good because I’ve scored eight goals.
“My teammates have confidence in me. The give me assists and I score from their assists.
“I’m very happy. I’m thankful to the players for the confidence they have given me.”
