Josep Maria Bartomeu praised Lionel Messi’s contribution to Barcelona’s win over Atletico Madrid after becoming a father for the second time.
Messi came off the bench to score at Vicente Calderon and, at a sponsor’s event, the President commended the Argentine, and questioned the state of refereeing in La Liga.
“We’re always concerned. We need to find solutions for everything, but we have respect for referees,” Bartomeu said, Marca reports.
“Throughout the year we’ll see things we like and others less so. When that happens we’ll try to fix it, but won’t do it publically.
“In any case, we’re happy with how we started. The team is playing well and we’ve already got a trophy.
“Life with Leo is prettier, of another colour. The work done this summer will allow us to fight for all the trophies. We’ve started well but we still need to work hard.”
