Luis Enrique commended his Barcelona side for their performance in beating Malaga and singled out goal scorer Thomas Vermaelen.
Vermaelen endured a nightmare first year in La Liga after leaving Arsenal, injuries delaying his debut until the very final League game of the season.
“I’m not surprised [by Vermaelen’s performance]. We knew when we signed him what we were getting,” the Coach noted, Marca reports.
“He’s still not 100% fit. He’ll improve.”
Regarding his side’s defence, deprived of Gerard Pique, Enrique was complimentary once more.
“It’s always nice not to concede. I’ve been happy with the team’s defending since pre-season. We didn’t lose our shape at any time and we were always ready to attack.
“Sergi Roberto deserves [his opportunity]. I like how he plays in any position. That’s the greatness of some players.”
