Bale gives first Spanish interview

Gareth Bale says “it's a dream for me to play for Real Madrid” in his first Spanish-language interview.

The winger's communication with the media since his move to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2013 had solely been in English, but he displayed a competent grasp of Castilian to Real Madrid TV on Friday.

“We're not happy with the result against Sporting, but we're still enthusiastic, we want to win against Betis and we want to play good football for the fans,” he began.

“It's a dream for me to play for Real Madrid. I give everything for this shirt and the fans.

“I love Madrid. I like the restaurants, the ham is very good… The weather and people are very good, but [Plaza de] Cibeles is the best for me.

“Rafa Benitez is a very good Coach, and I'm working hard in training and matches [to impress him].

“I want to play well in order to help the team. The team are very united and we want to win every match and every trophy.

“For me, the match in Munich was important [the 2014 semi-final at Bayern] and the final in Lisbon was of the greatest moments in my sporting life.

“I like scoring in finals because it's the best feeling in the world.

“The Champions League is always difficult because the teams are very good, but we'll fight in every game.”
