Saul: The most talented Atleti

Saul Niguez feels this is the most talented Atletico Madrid squad he has seen but refuses to set a target for the season.

The midfielder spoke to the Press following training, a session that included every Atletico player bar Thomas Partey, who is injured, and Guilherme Siqueira, who is away negotiating a transfer.

“Midfield is a position where I feel very comfortable and I can see playing there in the season, if that’s what the Coach wants,” Saul said when asked about his role, AS reports.

“The Coach has spoken to us about what he wants, he talks to us and what’s important is to work for the team.

“This might be the most talented squad I remember. The club has done a great job with the signings, incorporating great players.

“We don’t have a main objective. We’re only thinking about [the League opener against Las Palmas on Sunday].

“Las Palmas are a great team. It will be very difficult and we’ll try for the victory as against any team.

“It is a difficult start but what we need to think about first is Las Palmas, and not to look further.”
