Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Real Madrid target David de Gea will miss Manchester United’s trip to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday.
The goalkeeper sat out the Red Devils’ 2015-16 curtain-raiser against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and will once more find himself on the sidelines alongside fellow Spaniard Victor Valdes.
“He won’t play this weekend. We’re still in the same situation and he will stay out of the squad,” the former Barcelona manager told reporters.
Sergio Romero is expected to continue in De Gea’s absence.
