Madrid to renew Pepe deal

Pepe should have his Real Madrid contract extended in the next few days, tying the defender to the club until 2017.

The centre-back’s current deal was due to expire in a year’s time but AS reports Madrid have moved to prevent Pepe’s situation mirroring that of Sami Khedira, who left on a free transfer this summer.

Khedira was able to negotiate with other clubs from January, a situation AS describes as ‘uncomfortable,’ before he eventually signed for Juventus.

Pepe is expected to be joined in signing a new contract by Casemiro, whose terms will be extended to 2020.
