Enrique welcomes ‘difficult decisions’

Luis Enrique is pleased to have ‘difficult decisions’ to make as Barcelona Coach, particularly over who to play in goal.

Enrique was speaking after seeing Barca draw 2-2 with Premier League champions Chelsea in a friendly in the United States, Jose Mourinho’s team eventually winning on penalties.

Eden Hazard opened the scoring for the Blues before Luis Suarez equalised and Sandro Ramirez put Barca in front, Gary Cahill eventually sending the tie to a shootout as Barca conceded from a set-piece.

“We were at a superior physical level to a side that has had 10 days of training. I liked [Barca’s performance] a lot,” Enrique said, Marca reports.

“We managed to overcome the first goal and we’ve overturned the score, but we suffered as well. I’m very happy.

“Last year we were very strong [from set-pieces] but football is capricious. We work hard but we’re not a team with tall players. It will always be a point of suffering unless we change the profile of our players. But that would change the style, and we want to keep it.

“[Who to play in goal?] The decisions as Barca Coach are difficult and I’m delighted they are.”

Enrique was also asked about his use of Sergi Roberto as a full-back and the chances of losing any players from his squad, amid rumours of Pedro Rodriguez and Adriano being close to the exit.

“I like [Sergi Roberto] a lot and he has the profile to play as a full-back. It’s a resource we will use,” Enrique said after the youngster replaced the injured Douglas early in the match.

“We’ve already said there will be no exits. Whoever wants to leave will have to do so through their release clause.”
