Ramos & Perez call a truce?

It’s reported that Real Madrid President Florentino Perez and defender Sergio Ramos have reached a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to end hostilities.

AS say that the meeting between the pair and Ramos’ brother and agent Rene was positive and, while there is no official talk of a new contract, relations are improved.

It’s noted that the Ramos brothers never considered the disagreement over a new deal to be a central point but rather it was the leaking of details about the negotiation that caused a problem.

Perez, meanwhile, wasn’t happy with Ramos’ comments regarding the Iker Casillas situation but doesn’t want another battle with a leading player at the club and informal talks with the Ramos brothers have led to the calling of a truce.

Ramos hasn’t entirely given up on the idea of leaving Madrid for Manchester United but is said to be pleased with Perez’s stance.

Madrid had offered Ramos a new contract at €7m a year while Ramos was asking for €10m, and new Coach Rafa Benitez has spoken optimistically about the centre-back staying at Santiago Bernabeu.

Talks over Ramos’ new contract are expected to begin in earnest when the parties return to Madrid after the club’s summer tour.
