Reports: Madrid reject €120m Ronaldo bid

The Arabic-speaking media are reporting that Real Madrid have rejected a world-record €120m bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to the newspaper Rotana, PSG’s owners met Florentino Perez in Doha on Saturday, where they proposed the President the offer, citing that the change of Coach and Gareth Bale’s emergence would have prompted the No 7 into seeking a new challenge.

The offer is understood to have been financed by the Qatar Investment Authority, owned by the country’s monarchy, as UEFA recently lifted the Parisians’ Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Furthermore, Mlaib claims PSG patron Nasser Al-Khelaifi was made aware of Ronaldo’s unhappiness at Madrid following the episode of his birthday party, Jesus Olmo continuing as Los Blancos’ head doctor and Benitez’s visit to Bale, despite the attacker scoring 61 goals last season.

Finally, Arabic Sports runs the line that Al-Khelaifi was immediately referred to Ronaldo’s €1bn release clause by Perez.

The 30-year-old’s €21m salary expires in 2018, but the French giants are expected to maintain their interest in the player.
