Immobile inching closer to Sevilla?

Ciro Immobile’s proposed move from Borussia Dortmund to Sevilla is reportedly just €1m away from being confirmed.

According to Bild, only the small matter of valuation – to the tune of €1m – is preventing an official announcement from being made by either club.

Nonetheless, a deal worth €13.5m is expected to go through before the end of the weekend, with the Italian striker believed to be keen on making the switch.

Serie A side Napoli, known to be the player’s hometown club, have also shown an interest in Immobile, but they are aware that Sevilla have stolen a march in the race.

The 25-year-old rose to prominence in 2013-14, when he was crowned the season’s top goalscorer with 22 goals for Torino and subsequently earned a place in Italy’s World Cup squad.

A transfer to Dortmund followed, with the Juventus youth product being brought in to replace Robert Lewandowski, but he scored just three goals in the Bundesliga.

Nonetheless, he has not kicked up a fuss in trying to engineer a departure and embarked on BVB’s pre-season tour of Asia.

Sevilla, meanwhile, are on the lookouts for potential heirs to Carlos Bacca, who joined Milan earlier in the month, and have identified Immobile, rather than former Real Madrid loanee Javier Hernandez, as that man.
