Official: Depor loan Luis Alberto

Deportivo La Coruna have signed former Sevilla and Malaga attacker Luis Alberto on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

The 22-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or on the wing, passed a medical with his new club on Monday and has consequently spoken of his desire to gain plenty of first-team experience at Riazor.

“I want to reconnect with the pitch, enjoy myself, give joy to the fans and return the faith of my Coach,” he told reporters.

“I spoke with the Coach [Victor Sanchez], who knew me from Sevilla. He told me to come here and that I’d be very happy and feel like player again at the level of two years ago.

“He knows me and where I have to improve, and now I’ll put myself at his disposal. I’m really looking forward [to playing under him].

“[Depor’s objectives] are the same as they were at Malaga last season. We must think about survival and, once that’s achieved, something else.

“However, we have to be realistic at first and achieve our objectives quickly so we can enjoy the final part of the campaign.”

Alberto joined Liverpool in the summer of 2013, alongside fellow Spaniard Iago Aspas, but struggled to make an impact on the Reds’ Premier League title tilt and made just 15 appearances for Malaga last season.
