Everton manager Roberto Martinez has spoken in glowing terms of winger Gerard Deulofeu after the Toffees took him from Barcelona on a permanent basis.
Deulofeu turned out for Everton in the 2013-14 season, on loan from La Blaugrana, and made 29 appearances, scoring four goals.
He spent last year with Sevilla, helping Los Rojiblancos to fifth place and success in the Europa League, before a three, possibly four-year, €6m transfer to Goodison Park was confirmed.
Everton, acknowledging Barca hold a buy-back clause and first option on Deulofeu, quoted Martinez as celebrating Deulofeu’s return.
“We are getting an even more mature player now than he was a couple of seasons ago and a player who considers Everton as home,” the Spaniard said on the club’s official website.
“This is why we are incredibly excited to have him back here on a permanent basis and to encourage him to grow, develop and mature his enormous talent.”
