Official: Atleti sell Mandzukic to Juve

Atletico Madrid have announced that Mario Mandzukic has completed his transfer to Juventus for a reported €21m.

The striker has signed a four-year contract with the Italian champions after passing a medical on Monday and will compete with Spaniards Fernando Llorente and Alvaro Morata for a starting spot in the side’s attack.

“I want to thank all the colleagues with whom I shared a dressing room at Atletico, along with the coaching staff and all the people who work at the club,” he told Atleti’s official website.

“For me, it was a pleasure to join the team and play alongside so many great players last season.

“I also want to thank all the fans for the special support they gave me in every game. To experience the [Vicente Calderon] atmosphere was amazing.

“Now it’s been confirmed that I’ve left, I’ve received many loving messages from fans. That means I did my job well.

“It is time to face another challenge in a new League, but I’ll always support the club.”

Mandzukic joined Atleti from Bayern Munich last summer and scored 20 goals in 43 appearances in his one and only season for the club but did not score again after February and reportedly fell out with Diego Simeone.
