Sevilla not giving up on Konoplyanka

Monchi has insisted that Sevilla are still in the hunt for Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, despite talk of an agreement going cold.

The sporting director confirmed last week that the Europa League winners were locked in negotiations with the Ukraine international, but the deal has since been overshadowed by Gael Kakuta’s arrival and the player’s reported Premier League ambitions.

“The President hasn’t gone to meet anyone,” he was quoted as saying by AS.

“The situation is the same as a week ago. We’re still in the race, which is a merit in its own right as it’s a difficult transfer to agree and there are many suitors out there.

“We’ll remain patient, but it doesn’t mean that we’re enduring any hardships [in negotiations].

“We’re one option of his and we’ll let it progress. He’s worth the wait, it’s not a transfer in which we can make any ultimatums.”
