The Coach of Spain’s Women’s team, Ignacio Quereda, believes La Roja are on the right track despite exiting the Women’s World Cup without a win.
A 2-1 defeat by South Korea confirmed Spain’s early departure from Canada, failing to win any of their three Group E fixtures.
Vero Boquete put her side in front inside half-an-hour, only for Cho So-hyun and Kim Soo-yun to turn the score around.
Having drawn with Costa Rica and lost to Brazil, Spain leave with only a point, but Quereda believes there is better to come in the future.
“I think we’re on track. With young players getting closer. We keep growing as a group. The team has been strengthened and will mature,” he said, AS reports.
“I’m more enthusiastic than ever. I have more challenges and I won’t give up. I will keep working for even greater achievements.
“I’ve got mixed feelings [about the South Korea result]. I’m very happy with the attitude of the players. I’m a little disappointed with the outcome.
“It was a game of two halves. In the first we dominated, and in the second we lost our position and our fitness. After they equalised, we collapsed.”
