Real Madrid defender Pepe has claimed that his teammate and countryman Cristiano Ronaldo is a “much more complete” player than Lionel Messi.
Speaking to Globoesporte on Thursday, the Portugal international also spoke glowingly about his ongoing recovery from a thigh injury, having pulled up in Los Blancos’ final match of the season against Getafe three weeks ago.
“I prefer Cristiano because I believe he’s much more complete than Messi. He can play on both the right and left,” he said.
“Regardless [of what I think], they’re two great players with great quality. They’re proving that with each year that passes.
“That’s also good for the fans, who are enjoying the good football they play.
“I hope to fully recover in time for pre-season. I had the misfortune of picking up an injury in the last League match, but I’ve been doing physio work each morning.
“I’m feeling better now and I’ll use the next two weeks to regain 100 percent fitness and make myself available for the Coach.”
