Bartomeu: Enrique will stay

Josep Maria Bartomeu has asserted that Luis Enrique will remain Barcelona’s Coach next season.

The 44-year-old reiterated in the wake of La Blaugrana’s Champions League triumph on Saturday that his future had yet to be decided, but the President has promised that the trainer will stay on beyond 2015-16 if he is elected for a second term this summer.

“Luis Enrique will stay on. He had a 10/10 season and there’s no reason for him to break his contract,” he told RAC1.

“If I’m elected, I’ll offer him a renewal. [On the possibility of Miguel Angel Nadal becoming Barca’s next sporting director], he’s been at the club, played in the first team and knows the environment.

“[Dani Alves] has an offer on the table from us [a two-year deal with the option of making it three].

“It’s got to the stage that the offer is what it is [meaning Barca won’t budge]. I think it’s a good offer for him to stay at the best club in the world.”
