Bale: I’m staying at Madrid

Gareth Bale has vowed to stay at Real Madrid this summer after reiterating his happiness in the Spanish capital.

The Welshman came in for fierce criticism during the second half of last season as Los Blancos failed to claim any major silverware, but he insists he will be a better player for his experiences and is ready to lift trophies with the side again.

“Of course [I will be at Madrid next season],” he told The Sun.

“I’m a Real Madrid player and I'll carry on as normal. I am enjoying it and hopefully I can continue to.

“I feel settled. I'm looking forward now to playing and winning more trophies. My goal is to keep improving, performing and to win as many titles as I can.

“I know when I haven’t done something right or to the best of my ability and I take full responsibility for making amends by working harder in the next game.

“Playing for Madrid is a learning curve for me. I’m still getting used to being at such a big club.

“It has been a great experience in good or bad times. Personally, I’ve enjoyed it.

“Maybe I haven’t scored as many as I would have liked. It’s something for me to work on in the off season to get my finishing a bit better.

“We will go again next year and try to win [the Champions League]. We were devastated not to be in the final this year.

“We tried as best as we could but it wasn’t meant to be.”
