Ter Stegen: We lost our way

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen admitted “we lost our way” against Bayern Munich in Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg.

The Catalans reached their first Champions League final since 2011 courtesy of a 5-3 aggregate victory over the Bundesliga giants in the last four, but having lost 3-2 on the night, the goalkeeper conceded his side could not risk a repeat performance in Berlin.

“I don’t know what happened in the second half. We lost a bit of control, but we [still] won overall,” he told ITV Sport after the game.

“We’ll now go to Berlin and see what happens tomorrow [between Juventus and Real Madrid].

“It’s always good when you have a good performance, and I think [ours] was good today in general, but we lost our way a bit. We didn’t have the control [of the match] so it was difficult.

“The problem was that we won the first leg 3-0 and scored twice, so it was difficult for Bayern to go to Berlin or reach the final.

“We knew it could happen, but of course we have to give our best performance in the final.

“[On the ‘MSN’], I don’t know [if they’re the best trio ever]. I think they’re really good, but it’s more important that we’re good as a team in general [in the final].

“We’re not just about one player, but it’s good to know that we can always score.”
