‘Ramos in midfield? It’s an option…’

Carlo Ancelotti has hinted he could name Sergio Ramos in midfield when Real Madrid play Sevilla and compared him to two Italian greats.

Ramos was used in midfield in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final with Atletico Madrid and, amid a number of injuries still afflicting his squad, Ancelotti has confirmed he’s considered doing the same again at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

“It’s an option. He’s done well there but we have other options, Isco among them,” the Coach said, AS reports.

“We don’t gain or lose anything [with Ramos in midfield]. He has experience and can enjoy this experience.

“I think it’s very difficult to compare Ramos to others. I can try. There are defenders with technical quality, others with defensive quality.

“Others are unique with their marking ability, like [Fabio] Cannavaro. Others like [Franco] Baresi control the defensive line.

“Ramos, if I had to put a quality on him, is the most complete. He has a bit of everything. Personality, technical ability, control of the line. He might be the most complete.”
