Deulofeu responds to Sevilla boo-boys

Gerard Deulofeu has commented on the treatment he received by a section of Sevilla fans in the 2-0 defeat of Rayo Vallecano at the weekend.

The on-loan Barcelona winger was given an hour’s run-out against Rayo but missed a golden opportunity to score and struck a couple of wayward passes, causing some supporters at the Sanchez Pizjuan to hand him the whistling treatment.

Nonetheless, the 21-year-old took to his personal Twitter account to defend himself.

“Happy to be back playing! It’s a shame I didn’t play as well as I’d have like…Maybe the nerves got to me…We’ve got to keep working #SFC,” he tweeted.

Deulofeu joined the Andalusians in the summer after being on loan at Everton last season but has made just eight La Liga appearances and five Europa League starts this term.
