Madrid target Reus investigated

Real Madrid target Marco Reus is again under investigation by German prosecutors for alleged driving offences.

Late last year the Borussia Dortmund midfielder was fined €540,000 for six cases of driving without a licence and, according to AS, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office in Dortmund has confirmed other alleged offences are being looked into.

Prosecutors are acting on information received from a number of people who claim to have seen the 25-year-old behind the wheel on other occasions over the years, while it was discovered in March 2013 he had been driving without permission after being stopped at a police road block.

Reus recently signed a new Dortmund contract until June 2019 but a substantial offer could still see him depart the Bundesliga outfit, with Real Madrid leading the queue of potential suitors.

AS claim Los Blancos are considering an opening bid of around €30m, the same amount that was the release clause in the player’s previous contract, to see if the Germans are willing to do business.

Dortmund-born Reus has scored 11 goals from 24 games in all competitions this term despite him being dogged by injury for much of the campaign.
