‘0-0 is the best of the bad results’

Carlo Ancelotti said Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final could have been better, and could have been worse.

The Coach said after the final whistle that his side earned a more beneficial outcome with their first half performance but he was overall happy with the display.

“0-0 is the best of the bad results,” he claimed, AS reports.

“I think, especially in the first half, we deserved more than 0-0. The first half we were fantastic. We played very well, with personality.

“The second half was different because they pressed more and we had problems with possession.

“The result isn’t good but we can take confidence from the match we played and it showed in the team.

“They’re one of the best teams in the world for defending. [Jan] Oblak did a great job.

“We lacked small details. We had chances and everyone was great in attack, but we didn’t finish well.

“We have to repeat this game at Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday.”
