Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed that Barcelona are still in talks with Dani Alves over his protracted contract renewal, despite suggestions otherwise.
Alves’ agent and ex-wife Dinorah Santa Ana claimed on Thursday that her client would be likely heading out of Camp Nou in the summer after the club failed to offer the 31-year-old a three-year deal.
“Yes, Barcelona are [still] negotiating [with Alves],” the President told reporters.
“Barcelona are constantly negotiating with players, either to sign them or renew their contracts, but we’re discrete [about these matters].
“For Alves, the door isn’t closed. If Alves accepts the proposal we’ve made him, he’ll continue at Barca.
“Everyone has their own strategy. Ours is discretion and a statement at the end of negotiations, announcing that an agreement has been reached.”
