Berizzo: ‘Celta rewarded for efforts’

Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo maintained his side’s efforts finally paid off in the 1-1 draw with Granada at Los Carmenes.

Belgian youngster Theo Bondonga equalised for the Galicians in added time after coming on as a substitute, following Robert Ibanez’s early opener for the hosts, and Berizzo felt a draw was a fair result.

“It wasn’t the game we expected because we were very imprecise and Granada’s goal made it difficult for us,” the Argentine told a Press conference.

“We struggled to get a goal despite playing with a man more and failed to dominate in their part of the pitch.

“At times we had all-out attack and finished up playing with six forwards, although that can complicate things even further when you are searching for a draw, but we always thought we’d score and it was just reward for my players’ efforts.

“It was a fair scoreline because Granada also did a lot going forward, while the point helps us maintain the distance between ourselves and the bottom three, which is important.

“We were a little tired from our exertions against Barcelona on Sunday so there was no freshness in the players to move the ball as we usually do,” claimed Berizzo.
