Villarreal boss Marcelino said he was happy with the point his team took in the scoreless draw at Almeria on Sunday.
“I think the outcome was fair although both teams had chances to have won it,” he told reporters post-match.
“It was a tough, demanding game between two sides that wanted to win and it was quite hot out there for the players. The pitch was also slow so that meant there was more physical contact than normal.
“Almeria are not going to give you anything as they are in a difficult position, while they were also playing at home, but it was a good match where it could have gone either way.
“I’m satisfied with the work and effort of my players but we had a clear advantage when they had a man sent off, so I admit I’m a little bit disappointed that we missed the chance to make our numerical superiority count.”
