Toni Kroos has revealed he was invited to Cristiano Ronaldo’s controversial birthday party but declined as he foresaw the ensuing uproar.
Ronaldo was criticised for having a birthday bash on the night Real Madrid were beaten 4-0 in El Derbi by Atletico Madrid and Kroos told German TV following Los Blancos’ Champions League win over Schalke that he was invited to attend.
“I didn’t go because I imagined something like this could happen,” he said, jokingly, according to Marca.
“But seriously, this isn’t something I should talk about. It’s private and everyone has to decide and make a decision.
“Sure, it was a bad time after the 4-0 but it was a birthday party with lots of people invited. The Coach knew about it and you can’t cancel something immediately after a bad game.”
