Bale ‘happy’ with Depor display

Gareth Bale was delighted with his performance during Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga on Saturday.

The winger had been jeered by Los Blancos supporters in recent matches, amidst accusations of selfish play, but avoided their wrath against the Galicians, and he perceived that to be a sign he was returning to form.

“It was a very positive reaction from the whole team after last week’s defeat [to Atletico Madrid]. The three points are important and we remain [League] leaders,” the former Tottenham star said after the match.

“I’m happy with my performance, although I didn’t score. I always like scoring goals, but the most important thing was that the team got over the loss of the last game.

“It’s good to be back [playing] in the Champions League. We’ve all been looking forward to it since our last match [in the competition].

“We want to win [against Schalke], mark our return with a good result and take control of the tie.”
