Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has revealed the secret to his recent great form – an electro stimulation jacket.
Known as the ‘Bolt Method’, the Frenchman works out at home with the new technology that is becoming more and more fashionable and even uploaded a picture on his Facebook profile using the training technique.
Guillermo Tabuyo, a personal trainer and expert in the new method, explained its functionality to AS.
“An electro stimulation jacket helps you lose body fat and gain muscular tone. It also aids the body in improving speed reaction as it works on ‘type 2’ body fibres,” said Tabuyo.
“It can stimulate deeper fibres in a way that conventional work-outs don’t and helps in injury recovery, while it’s also a great preventative measure.
“Having greater muscular mass means there is less risk of picking up an injury. At Bayern Munich it’s a method used by the whole squad.”
The jacket has been widely used in other sports, most notably by athlete Usain Bolt, but does not come cheap as it is priced at anywhere between €10,000 and €20,000.
