Ancelotti: Ronaldo has learnt lesson

Carlo Ancelotti says Cristiano Ronaldo has learnt his lesson from his red card and subsequent two-match ban during Cordoba-Real Madrid last week.

The Portuguese will be unavailable for Los Blancos’ visit of Real Sociedad in La Liga on Saturday, along with the midweek fixture against Sevilla, but the Coach is adamant the forward will use the time off wisely.

“It’s never good to have suspensions. [Ronaldo] accepted his without any problems and will use the opportunity to work towards the derby,,” he said at a Press conference.

“He has nothing to recover from because he has no problems with his knee or anywhere else.

“He was quick to apologise for his reaction. He made a mistake and apologised. It won’t not happen again.

“His [knee] tendon has recovered. Some people think he needs the break, but he doesn’t have any physical problems.

“[The defeat to La Real] was just a moment, we improved after that. The new players just needed time to acclimatise. We’re a different Madrid now.

“It’s normal that there’s tension at this level involving big teams [referring to Atletico Madrid-Barcelona in the Copa del Rey].

“From time to time, the players feel the pressure and get nervous, but it all ends when the referee blows [for full-time].

“We have to play with more intensity, especially in defence. We allow too many counterattacks.”
