Stuani could leave Espanyol

Christian Stuani has revealed his future at Espanyol is uncertain and he could leave the club before the close of the January transfer market.

The Uruguayan is enjoying a purple patch at the moment and was on the mark twice in the 3-0 win over Almeria at the weekend.

However, according to Sport, he has received a firm offer from Mexican outfit Tigres – one that would see around €3.5m poured into Espanyol’s coffers – as well as other clubs having shown interest, most notably from Turkey and Germany.

Asked about the possibility of a move to Mexico, the 28-year-old insisted everything was still very much up in the air.

“In football you never know but I’m very happy here, which is something I’ve always said and will say again,” he told reporters.

“There are rumours and Espanyol are handling the matter, so I’m aware of that. It’s a decision the club must take and we’ll decide what’s best for my future.

“The last person to decide is the player, it’s true, but so far the club has not raised the issue.

“I’m going through a good time in my career and I think I’m having my best season,” he maintained.
