Low named Coach of the Year

Germany Coach Joachim Low has been named FIFA’s Coach of the Year for 2014 at the Ballon d’Or gala in Zurich.

Low saw off competition from Carlo Ancelotti and Diego Simeone after a 12 months in which he led his team to victory in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Ancelotti was nominated after guiding Real Madrid to victory in the Champions League in his first season at Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos also landing the Copa del Rey.

Simeone oversaw Atletico Madrid’s successful pursuit of La Liga and took Los Colchoneros to the Champions League final, where they were beaten by Madrid.
