‘Malaga in a period of transition’

Javi Gracia has conceded that Malaga face a period of transition following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Almeria in La Liga.

The Andalucians dropped vital home points in their quest for a top-six place after Tomer Hemed’s double cancelled out Samu Garcia’s equaliser, and the Coach is unsure about how his side will react to a busy January, which has already seen Roque Santa Cruz depart the club.

“We’re now at a point where we’re going through a lot of changes, and it’ll be difficult to get back to the level that we were once at,” he told reporters after the game.

“We had a bad game and were defeated as a consequence. After Almeria’s second goal, we lost ideas, but we put more heart in than anything else.

“It’s true that I’m not satisfied with some of the referee's decisions, but I don’t think it’s fair to start analysing any arbitral action.

"We’re in a situation where we can remain optimistic, because we still have two games to finish the first half of the season and achieve great, historic figures.”
