Ronaldo: Cristiano for Ballon d’Or!

Ronaldo is backing his namesake Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for this year's FIFA Ballon d'Or. "His numbers were unthinkable in my day."

The Brazil legend enjoyed a successful five-year spell at Santiago Bernabeu between 2002 and 2007, scoring 111 goals in 177 appearances, and he remains an avid fan of Los Blancos to this day.

"Yes, I feel more home at Real Madrid than anywhere else," he began in an interview with RMTV.

"I see Madrid in a very good way. We must continue in the same vein as last year so we can celebrate the titles at the end of the season.

"Cristiano's the best striker in the world. He does what people like to see, score goals. The supporters enjoy it as much as I do.

"What he's doing is amazing. His numbers were unthinkable in my day, but he deserves them.

"He has great quality and cleverly exploits the opposition.

"It's amazing to see him play. He combines his technical quality with physical strength very well.

"I think it's clear that this year Cristiano will win [the Ballon d'Or] again."
