Marcelino wary of ‘dangerous’ Cordoba

Marcelino has warned his Villarreal players against falling into the complacency trap when they face La Liga’s bottom club Cordoba on Sunday.

The Yellow Submarine are unbeaten in their last three matches but the Coach underlined how his side’s upcoming opponents had lost just one more League match than them.

"Cordoba haven't won, but they haven't lost many games either. They've been involved in tight matches and are a team that don't lose easily," he said at a Press conference.

"We'll demand maximum [points] because we come into this match on the back of two great efforts against Getafe and Gladbach.

"The match is very complicated, but we have confidence in ourselves.

"In any division, there's a first and bottom team. We'd be committing a serious mistake if thought that we'd win because we were playing the bottom team.

"We'll have to give everything to get the three points.

"Cordoba combine well and can cause you problems up top. Fede Cartabia is in great form and Ghilas has very good movement, like Borja and Fidel.

"They’ll pose us plenty of danger, so we have to be very careful with our defensive game.

"However, they're a team who are in doubt defensively and also have some logical anxiety from not winning yet.

"We'll have to be incisive in our attempts to hurt them. We’re a very good team, but we can't control our opponents for 90 minutes."
