Ronaldo backs Cristiano for Ballon d’Or

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the support of his namesake, former Brazil striker Ronaldo, in the fight for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The Brazilian Ronaldo, formerly of Barcelona, has told Sky Italia that the Real Madrid forward should make it two successes in as many years, over Lionel Messi or any of the Germany World Cup winning team.

“I think he’ll repeat this year and win again,” Ronaldo said, AS reports.

“He’s scoring a lot of goals and is helping with what Madrid are doing. Messi is also in good form now but Cristiano has had a memorable year. This year isn’t memorable for Messi.”
