Barcelona striker Luis Suarez claims he will not celebrate if he manages to score against Ajax on Wednesday night.
The Uruguayan is all set to make his Champions League debut for the Catalans in the Group F Champions League game at the Amsterdam Arena and maintains it is special to be returning to the club where he made his name.
“It will be a great source of happiness for me to play in the Champions League and I want to enjoy it,” Suarez told UEFA.com.
“However, if I score I won’t celebrate because I really respect Ajax, although I’ll be delighted to get my first goal for Barca.
“It will be great to be back in Amsterdam and it’s a special match for me. I’m always happy to play here.
“Ajax was the most important club of my career and I learned a lot there, both personally and professionally.
“Thanks to them my dream of playing in the Champions League with a top team has become a reality.”
Suarez’s respect for Ajax is such that he does not rule out returning to the club one day.
“Everyone knows the love I have, not just for the city but also for the club and the fans. They treated me very well and helped me, so I’m sure if I had the chance to come back in the future then I would return.
“I don’t know any of the players here now but I worked for a couple of weeks with the Coach, so those are good memories,” he concluded.
