Liverpool to move for Malaga ‘keeper?

Liverpool could be about to make a move for Malaga goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, according to the Daily Star.

First choice Reds’ stopper Simon Mignolet’s future on Merseyside is looking increasingly uncertain, with boss Brendan Rodgers having recently been frustrated in his attempts to bring both Victor Valdes and Fiorentina’s Neto to the club.

It has forced Rodgers to look further afield and he now has his eyes firmly fixed on Mexican international Ochoa, who has so far failed to play a single minute for the Costa del Sol outfit this term.

The 29-year-old has failed to dislodge Cameroon ‘keeper Carlos Kameni from between the sticks, despite having signed a three-year deal this summer following a string of outstanding performances at the World Cup.

According to the club’s general director Vicente Casado, Ochoa’s future will be considered in December.

“It’s a matter we don’t wish to bring up at the moment,” he told Mexican website Mediotiempo.com.

“We still think Guillermo is willing to fight for his place in every training session, so we’ll see how things stand in December.”
