Diego Costa has admitted to having doubts he would get off the mark for Spain before he netted in the win over Luxembourg.
Costa went more than 500 minutes in La Roja colours without finding the net before hammering the third goal of a 4-0 win.
David Silva, Paco Alcacer and Juan Bernat were also on target as Spain returned to winning ways following the midweek Slovakia defeat.
“It was bothering me a lot that I wasn’t able to score,” Costa confessed to reporters after the match, according to AS.
“It bothered be a lot and on top of that, the team had lost. But this gives me a new life.
“I didn’t know how I was going to score. It was from a dead ball and I only had to hit it.
“I have to be thankful for the support of the Coach. Every game, he gave me another chance.”
