Costa named in Spain squad

Diego Costa has been included in the Spain squad for next week’s Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had argued the striker would benefit from sitting out the next round of international games but Costa is named by Vicente Del Bosque.

Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno is involved as well, as is club colleague Paco Alcacer, who scored on his first start, against Macedonia.

Gerard Pique returns to the party despite featuring only sporadically for Barcelona, while Bayern Munich left-back Juan Bernat gets a call-up.

Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla keeps his place in the squad as one of three goalkeepers, with captain Iker Casillas and No.2 David de Gea.

Spain squad to play Slovakia and Luxembourg:

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, David de Gea, Kiko Casilla

Midfielders: Ander Iturraspe, Sergio Busquets, Koke, Andres Iniesta, Santi Cazorla, Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, Raul Garcia, David Silva
