Alessio Cerci has said he has signed for Atletico Madrid with the intention of proving himself at the highest level.
Cerci was confirmed as an Atletico player the day of the transfer deadline, moving to the champions from Torino.
He has told an interview that he is excited to sign in at Vicente Calderon, having followed Atletico’s success over the last few years, but feels he has to prove he can match the club’s standards.
“It’s my honour to be here. Atletico is a team that is constantly evolving who always want to win and it’s a big project, so I am very proud to be here,” AS reports the Italy international as saying.
“On a personal level I hope to play and prove myself. With the help of my teammates I hope to show my talent as I have done in the past and do things right to help the team.
“It’s impossible not to know the history of Atletico in recent years, especially after the deserved League title last season, with strong teams such as Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“The League was a huge success, and the final of the Champions League, until the last minute.
“I’m very proud to wear this shirt and I will give 100%, the maximum, so that with my teammates I can achieve something great.
“This is a great team, they have demonstrated that, and I hope my arrival can contribute something to the team.”
