Casilla surprised by Spain call

Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has admitted he was surprised to be called into the Spain squad for games against France and Macedonia.

Casilla also defended Iker Casillas from criticism and revealed his belief that La Roja have a good group of goalkeepers to pick from.

“I don’t know if I’ll play but I come with the idea of training and learning,” AS reports Casilla as saying.

“I am very happy to be here. I want to enjoy it and learn. I never expected this call.

“You work for your team and this is the reward. It happens once in a lifetime and you have to seize it.

“There is a very good level of Spanish goalkeepers. There are goalkeepers for a while.

“Casillas is a matter for the sporting Press. He doesn’t have to prove anything with what he has done, what he has been and what he is.”
