‘The game could have been anybody’s’

Luis Enrique admitted that ‘the game could have been anybody’s’ as Barcelona beat Villarreal 1-0.

The Blaugrana won thanks to teenager Sandro, who netted his first senior goal for the Catalans.

And the Coach insisted that his way of playing is being slowly implemented by his new team.

“The game was a thrilling one for the public,” he told reporters.

“Both teams took their turns controlling the game and above all shooting at goal. We tried right to the end against a Villarreal that defended very well.

“The game could have been anybody's. This result is very good for us because it reinforces our playing philosophy.

“I tried to inject some energy into the midfield because Villarreal were causing us a lot of problems in the centre of the pitch.

“Despite them, I think we made quite a few opportunities, although the state of the pitch didn't help either of the teams.

“In general I think we reached our objectives. We're delighted because winning at El Madrigal is very difficult.”
