Amadeo Salvo has lamented the departure from Valencia of Jeremy Mathieu, who yesterday wrapped up his move to Barcelona.
The Valencia President admitted he hoped his club could retain the Frenchman but a €20m release clause was triggered by the Catalans.
“We’ve lost a great player. We’d like to have kept Mathieu. The sale is not good,” he is quoted as saying by Marca.
“We’ve been ready for this for some time and the Coaching staff of Valencia is on it,” Amadeo added, hinting at an imminent replacement.
